enjoying maternity leave

Well, one week of maternity leave is behind me! We have our next appointment on Wednesday, and Jordan and I are both wondering if our doctor might say something like, "well, you're 5 cm dilated, so let's go ahead and check you in!" Who knows!

Stewie is having a nice recovery from his surgery. He was in quite a bit of pain on Saturday, and was wobbling around our bedroom, but today he's doing much better. The pain medication seems to be helping. The only downside is that we have to use special newspaper litter in his litter box while his incisions heal, and boy does his litter box stink now! I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and see for how much longer we have to do that. It's interesting, but even though I was fearing that Stewie might hate us after his surgery, he has been much more affectionate since we brought him home. He even posed for a picture:

Here's a picture of two hats I crocheted for Baby Z:

Today, our friends JoElla and Brian came over to help us install our underground pet fence. Brian and Jordan used shovels and a blade edger to dig the trench for the wire, while JoElla and I went around behind them filling in the trench after they'd laid the wire. After testing out the field to make sure it worked, each of them took turns touching the collar and going outside of the boundary... apparently it gives you a nice little shock. :)

After JoElla and Brian left, Jordan and I went over to the house of a couple from our church for a baby shower. We received so many beautiful, thoughtful gifts, and just had to show off a couple. First, here's an adorable KU hoodie!

Then, this is a handmade quilt from the team of travelers that Jordan went with on his mission trip to Nicaragua last year. On the back is all their handprints with a little message! How beautiful!!!!
