This weekend Jordan, Marshall and I celebrated Valentine's Day. On Friday night, we enjoyed a recently established family tradition: PMBM Night. It stands for Pizza-Movie-Beer-Movie Night, in which we eat delicious homemade pizza (thanks, Jordan!) and watch a Marshall-appropriate movie. Then, after we put Marshall to bed, Jordan and I enjoy a nice microbrew with a grown-up movie.
On Saturday, we slept in until almost 8 am (that's LATE around here!) and then went grocery shopping. Afterwards we toured around a neighborhood featuring beautiful houses, plotting out where our future home might be, now that we're committed to staying in Kansas for quite a while. We took the dogs on a walk, with Marshall in his red wagon, since the weather was so nice. I cooked meals for the entire week, and after lunch, we had family nap time and all slept for almost 3 hours! That afternoon we decided to go for a run together, which was great, even though we almost got hit by a car (driven by a barely sixteen year old who was texting instead of watching the road). That evening I made chocolate-covered strawberries. Yum!
On Sunday, we tried out a local church for the second time and really enjoyed it. During Marshall's nap time, I was surprised by a flower delivery! Marshall had sent me yellow roses and daisies, just like the flowers from our wedding, though I'm convinced he had a little help from Dad. Later on, we tried to go for a run on the running trail near our house, since it was almost 60 degrees outside! But, unfortunately, the trail hadn't been plowed, and as a result of the 15+ inches of snow we got during the last two weeks, it was a slushy mess. It was like trying to push Marshall's stroller through Jell-O. We weren't too successful at the whole running thing, so we just went for a family walk. We ate dinner at a delicious Japanese steakhouse, during which I looked down to see Marshall playing with a jewelry box. Inside was a beautiful necklace for me!
My boys spoil me too much. I love my two Valentines.
