Bye bye to Facebook

This evening, while I was spending a little time Facebook-stalking, I noticed that nearly all of my friends from medical school have changed their Facebook profile names. I realized they might have done this because as of September 1st, we all could begin applying for residency programs, and now, residency programs out there might be searching for us through social media. Child Neurology matches through a different residency matching service, with earlier deadlines, so my applications have been out for a couple of weeks. I wonder if any of the programs tried to search for me on Facebook? I didn't think there was anything too incriminating on my profile, but you can never be sure with friends tagging pictures of you. So, instead of changing my name to Britton Zucc or Britt Zucchini and wrestling with the privacy settings on Facebook, I decided to do as I did when I applied to medical school- I simply deactivated my account temporarily. But, as a result, I now vow to post more pictures and blog entries here to keep you all updated.

Our house is still littered with unpacked boxes, but we can actually see the floor in the kitchen and we're eating off of real plates with actual silverware. I'm spending my days studying for my second medical licensing exam (Step 2), and we spend the evenings playing with Marshall, so Jordan and I are relying on doing all the unpacking after Marshall goes to bed... but by that time we're exhausted, especially since Jordan and I recently restarted P90X, a weightlifting program we did 2.5 years ago, so the unpacking has been slow-going. But, as soon as we're done, I'll post pictures of our adorable new house. Here's a couple from the backyard for now:

We have a pear tree!

And the neighbor behind us has some beautiful flowers that line our fence.

Did I mention that Jordan, Marshall and I are the only people in our neighborhood who do not qualify for Medicare or AARP benefits? It's making us miss the young families on our street in Lawrence, but I know we'll appreciate not having the commute everyday for work.

And, here's our little man in the bath at the new house:

This weekend we're going up to Omaha to visit Jordan's brother Jonathan and to go to the Omaha Zoo with our besties from college. Pictures to come!!

  1. I just realized we've lived in 4 different houses since I started writing this blog! CRAZY! No more moving for a long while!

  2. Check out my blog if you want to know about someone who moved more than a cat on a hot stove. I am thrilled you will be blogging. I see the great bathing beauty photo of Marshall. I may need some instruction to figure out how to download it from your blog and then print it. Is that the photo you promised for my bathing beauties project? It is so cute. My blog is at drummerbobbie@blogspot.com
