overdue update
It has certainly been a long time since I updated the blog, but what can I say? Life is crazy right now! Jordan and I finished classes on May 15th, moved into our new house May 18-20th and I started studying for the boards (which I take on June 11th)! I meant to take a picture at 16 weeks and post it, but I couldn't find our digital camera until this morning. I'd love to post some pictures of the new house, but too much of it is still in boxes so that'll have to come later. Tomorrow we'll be 17 weeks!

Wonderful post! Thanks for the update and super cute picture! Good luck on your boards!
ReplyDeleteoh my god!! I can't believe how big you have gotten in just the last week and a half!
ReplyDeletesuper cute:)
Nice little belly. What, exactly, are the boards? Does this mean that you are finished with classes? Grammy
ReplyDeleteThe boards are the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), which is a three-part test that is administered to medical students and residents to assure their competency in the medical field. Without passing each step of the boards, you cannot go on in your medical training. I am about to take Step 1 on June 11th, which is an 8-hour computer-based multiple choice test covering all topics that I have learned about so far in my first 2 years of medical school. As long as I pass, I will move on to my clinical rotations in the end of June (no more classes!). Then, at the end of my third year of medical school I will take Step 2, which has a computer component as well as a clinical skills assessment in which I will see standardized patients and will be evaluated for my clinical competency. Then, after fourth year I graduate, and start residency. I take Step 3 after the first year of residency. So, this upcoming test, if I pass, won't make me a doctor, but it will give me clearance to move forward. 2 weeks from tomorrow! YIKES!
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that you are completely done with classroom instruction? Would you explain what you will be doing over the next two years? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteStarting in June I will start my hospital rotations in which I will shadow residents and attending physicians and see patients. My first rotation is in Internal Medicine and lasts for 8 weeks. Then I have Family Medicine (8 weeks), my maternity leave (11 weeks), OB/GYN (6 weeks), Pediatrics (6 weeks), Geriatrics (4 weeks), Psychiatry (4 weeks) and Neurology (4 weeks). That concludes my 3rd year, and then my fourth year will include specialty rotations in the field of pediatrics, a rural medicine rotation, among other rotations. I will occasionally have lectures throughout the year, but yes, as long as I pass the boards, I am done with my classroom instruction.
ReplyDeleteBritt, I just stumbled onto your blog (thank you, Facebook!) and I am so ecstatic to hear (see?) that you and Jordan are expecting! Congratulations. You are absolutely adorable. I'm planning on blog-stalking you now; hope you don't mind. ;-) Where are you guys living now?

I'm glad to see that the dumbbells were one of the first things to be unpacked ;-). Then again, what's the point in packing dumbbells? You'd probably get 1-2 per box before it's too heavy and rips apart ;-). I saw an infomercial for P90X yesterday and was SOLD! I almost picked up my phone and ordered it but figured I could maybe wait until the baby was out and Jordan's done with his next run of it. Anyway, I've been thinking of you guys a lot lately!
