irritated.... and tired

In preparation for my horrendous week of final exams ahead (and then board-prep after that), I have been finally buckling down and spending some serious time studying. But, no caffeine + creating life makes me really sleepy. I have discovered a way to get around this: drinking lots of water so I have to go to the bathroom at least once per hour and taking short 20-25 minute naps here and there. Well, I was trying to get some studying done today, and I found a nice, quiet, personal study room in the student center on campus. After about an hour and a half of quality work, I started dozing. Fortunately, this room also had a couch in it, with a blanket, and even a space heater! So, I decided to take a nap. I put a sign on the door that said "Do not disturb" and shut off the lights. Now, I understand that when the door to a private study room in the student center is shut and there is a sign on the door instructing me not to enter, I should not enter the room. However, apparently either that is not common knowledge or courtesy, or I am horribly confused because 3 times in 20 minutes someone opened the door and peeked their head inside. Hello? I am sleeping! I know it's unfair to use a study space to take a nap, but it was only for 20 minutes, and these rooms are used on a first-come, first-served basis. I don't mean to sound so cranky, but that's the major symptom I've been experiencing lately with the pregnancy. Morning sickness is out and the extreme fatigue is pretty much gone, but I get easily irritated at the slightest provocation now- just ask Jordan. Poor guy.

In other, way better news, according to baby center, at 14 weeks, Baby Zucchini can now squint, frown, grimace, urinate and suck his/her thumb! And, though I can't feel it yet, (s)he should be moving around in there about now! We are having a level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks (mid-June) to look for any heart defects (since I was born with an atrial septal defect). I can't wait to see the little baby!

  1. Jen also had "mood swings" and we all learned to tread carefully around her; it does go away, so tell Jordan to hang in there! Good luck with all of your exams!
