[First positive pregnancy test February 24th (exactly 3 years 1 day after I had my first positive test with Marshall)]We had always hoped for multiple children, ideally three years apart or less, and with this due date, these kiddos will be three years apart to nearly the day!
We aren’t going to find out what we’re having again, so you can all make your predictions.
I had my first doctor’s appointment when I thought we were more like 7-8 weeks along based on my last period but based on our ultrasound it turns out I miscalculated and we were only 6 weeks 1 day at that visit. The baby looked great, with a heart rate of 154. We had to pick a new obstetrician since the drive to Lawrence with my crazy work schedule would just be too impractical. We picked the practice based on location and my insurance and the obstetrician really just based on who was available when I needed to schedule the appointment. We ended up finding a really good fit and we get along great with our new doc. He’s a man, which I initially thought might be a little weird for me but he made me feel totally at ease and really hit it off with Jordan.

(I wrote this around 6-7 weeks but just now got around to posting): I’ve been feeling really nauseous for the past week. I’ve been working the overnight shifts in the ER so I was too nauseous to eat dinner, my first meal of the day. I haven’t gotten sick yet, just feeling really queasy. But, I have managed to find a few foods that I can stomach down- they may not be the healthiest, but they’re food nonetheless- Ramen noodles, spaghettios… I was craving chicken tacos and quesadillas the other night at work so I came home and put everything in the crockpot to make chicken bay leaf but when I woke up in the evening to make dinner I felt too sick to eat them. We decided to go on a long bike ride as a family and after a couple of hours of riding and playing at various parks, my stomach felt better and I cooked dinner… I was only able to eat one of each but they were good… at the time.
We’ve told Marshall and now from time to time he pulls up his shirt, points to his own belly and says, “my baby’s in there.” It shouldn’t be long before his daycare finds out… For a while he said he wanted “a baby girly” but now he’s saying he wants “a baby brother.” We shall see…

Despite having a ton of baby stuff, we’ve realized there some things we’ll need, like extra car seats. We’re keeping an eye out for a cool double jogger stroller. The good news is all my maternity clothes will fit because I’ll be pregnant during the same seasons again. But that might not really matter anyway since I usually just wear scrubs to work.

This baby is already starting to pop out. They say you show a little earlier with subsequent kids but geez! And, I swear I felt this baby move today. Jordan thinks it was probably just gas but I know the difference. Fortunately I haven't had any of the vomiting that I had with Marshall but I still feel sick pretty often, especially if it's been a while since I've had something to eat. I've learned to carry around little snacks to keep in my pockets at work.
Congratulations Britton! So exciting that your family is growing!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking your posts to make mental notes of 'how to have a baby in residency'. Maybe you should write a book about it, as if you're not too busy already ;)
I hope the nausea goes away soon!
Amanda
