Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Jordan!

To celebrate, we gave Jordan a fishing pole and a little one for Marshall too so they can go fishing when I'm in the hospital on the weekends. We tried out the poles on Saturday morning. Marshall was a little excited but mostly creeped out by the fish we caught. We ended up catching five fish, but they were too small to keep so we threw them all back. Marshall fed the fish and ducks his Cheerios.

We also went to a barbecue to meet all the new interns and residents at Children's Mercy. It was a great time, and the boys even made some new friends.

Today we went on a nice walk together in the morning and after church the boys took a nap while I went on a run in the 95+ degree weather. It was miserable, I have to admit, but I felt good for going. I have to get in shape before I'm trapped in the hospital!

After nap we went to Crown Center, a shopping area in downtown Kansas City. There was a Chalk the Walk festival going on, and we walked around viewing all the amazing works of art drawn on the sidewalk. There was even a kids creation area, and since we arrived as the event was winding down, the lady running the children's area sent us home with a huge box of Crayola sidewalk chalk! Score!

We enjoyed some nice burgers on the grill in honor of the grill master at our house, and then watched the Miss USA competition to cheer on our fellow college cross country and track teammate and my sorority sister, who is Miss Iowa. Come on, what guy doesn't want to see 51 beautiful women in swimsuits? :)

Happy Father's Day, Jordan! Marshall is lucky to have you!

And I'm so very lucky too. I am pretty intimidated by my intern schedule, but there is always a silver lining- in August I not only have 9 consecutive days of vacation, but I also only work 12 days in the entire month! I'm thinking internship is going to be all about give and take.
