With Jordan away at a conference in New York this week, Marshall and I enjoyed some much-needed quality time together. We ended the perfect week with a trip up to Iowa to visit Abby (my BFF), Ean (Jordan's BFF), Chasen (Marshall's BFF), Kevin (Sydney's BF and Austin's BFF), Cheech and Chong (Stewie's BFsF) and all the other farm animals.
This week was surprisingly easy, in terms of trying to pull off the temporary single mother thing. I completed a week in outpatient pediatrics at Marshall's pediatrician's office, so I didn't have to commute all week! It was wonderful. I also had the pleasure of dropping Marshall off at daycare everyday and picking him up too. I even had a few short days so that we could spend some time playing together in the afternoon/evening before going to bed. And, since he's the perfect little gentleman, he only woke up once per night all week long!
He was a DREAM in the car this weekend. On the way there he only cried for 30 minutes when he was trying to fall asleep for the night, and he cried for 30 minutes on the way home when he (like me) was just sick of being in the car for so long. I reached my arm around to try to give him his pacifier, and he wrapped both arms around my hand, as if he were trying to hug me. In my rear-view mirror, I could see his reflection in his little mirror and it was so pathetic! He was just gripping onto me, crying, as if he were devastated to be alone in the back seat. As I decided to pull over at the next exit to comfort him, he drifted quietly off to sleep. Little cutie.
Next weekend he and I are flying to Seattle to go visit my mom for spring break!
Congrats on such a successful week! I was thinking about you and glad to hear you and Marshall had fun.

Britton, That picture is darling. I wish I had a printer so I could print it. The boys look like brothers.
ReplyDeleteMarshall looks so cute in this picture! I'm so glad your week of single parenting went so well and hopefully your travel to Seattle will be just as easy.
