I can't believe Marshall will be 10 weeks old tomorrow! How time flies!
This morning Jordan took our little man to the pediatrician for his 10 week check-up. He received his first round of immunizations (HepB, DTP, HIB, IPV, Pneumococcal and Rotavirus) and was evaluated for seborrheic dermatitis (cradle cap). Here are his stats:
height: 24.5 inches (he's taller/longer than 90% of his peers!)
weight: 11 pounds 15 ounces (apparently he's only heavier than 47% of babies his age)
head circumference: 15.5 inches
He's lost most of his newborn hair, with new hair growing in its place. It was sad to see his white patch of hair nearly disappear, but I think that the new hair growing in that spot is white as well. The last bit of older hair to fall out is on the back of his head, making it look like he's rocking a super 1980s mullet. I'll post a picture later.
He is able to hold his head up to about 45 degrees when he's on his tummy, even though he hates it. He recently discovered his hands and has been shoving them in his mouth whenever he gets the chance! Even though it's early, we think he might be already starting to teethe because he's constantly drooling and when he's fussy, a chilled pacifier or teething ring seems to soothe him.
He is really good at holding his head up when we hold him in our arms, and he's fascinated by the baby in the mirror. He loves bath time, and we even took him on his first run the other day in the jogger stroller since it was nice out. He loves to listen to Shel Silverstein poems and he could stare for hours at his One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish mobile that hangs over his changing table.
He is constantly smiling and he's starting to make little giggling noises. He's quite the vocal baby.
Thankfully my schedule on the gynecology portion of this OB/GYN rotation has been great and I've had the opportunity to pick him up early from daycare on several occasions. I'll be starting the OB portion on Sunday, which involves 12-14 hour shifts... add that to my hour commute in each direction and that'll make for some LONG days. Fortunately, everyone has been very empathetic to my situation and I'm getting to spend more time with Marshall than I thought I would.
I'll post some pictures of our adorable little man soon!
