We're pregnant!

After waiting a couple of days, we took another test, and though the photo quality is terrible, you can see that it was indeed positive! Hooray!

We scheduled our first OB/Gyn appointment today. They want to see us between 6-10 weeks, but since we don't really know how far along we are right now, our appointment isn't until March 9th (a little over a week away). We have decided that we want to hold off on telling our parents and siblings until after that first appointment. That way, if God forbid something happen, we don't have to explain it to so many people, and, after our appointment, we'll know more about our due date. It's a very exciting time, for sure. I have found that the fact that we're pregnant is on the tip of my tongue. My classmates will ask me simple questions, like, "Do you know what the third lecture for today is?" and the answer I have waiting for them is, "Um, I'm pregnant." Of course, I haven't told any of them yet, but it will be very exciting when I do.

One hang up that we're facing is that a big group of our friends are counting on Jordan and I to run in a 40-mile road race with them in April. Somehow Jordan and I each got roped into doing three 3-5 mile legs each, and my total is 12 miles. Though plenty of people say it's safe, Jordan and I would rather play it safe- so, I'm not going to train for this run anymore. That left our team in a bind. If it had just been one leg, I'm sure someone else would have picked it up, but since I'm running 3 of the legs, I needed to find someone to take my spot. We immediately thought of Ean and Abby, our BFFs from Iowa, because they were both on the XC and track teams with us in college and we've been dying to have a visit with them. So, when I called Abby last night, I attempted to be vague, saying, "um, someone has dropped out of the race, so we need a replacement or two." She could tell I was hiding something from her. She asked who would watch her son, Chasen, while she ran, and I finally came out and said that I could, since I was the one that wouldn't be racing. Immediately she knew why. She screamed into the phone, "Are you pregnant?!?!" When I said yes, she screamed and yelled and was dancing around her house. Obviously, she was excited for us.

Though it hadn't been our intention to share this news with anyone, especially not with friends before family, it does feel good to share our joy and excitement with someone. It'll be great to compare notes with Abby, who just had her first baby in November.

Strangely enough, it turns out that it seems Ean and Abby and Jordan and I are leading parallel relationships, with us 1 year behind. Ean and Abby met in the fall during cross-country season and started dating. One year later to the month, Jordan and I met and started dating. In June of 2006 Ean and Abby were married. In June 2007 Jordan and I were married. In February of 2008, Ean and Abby found out they were pregnant. In February of 2009 we found out we were pregnant. It's crazy to think that our children might come close to sharing the same birthday (or at least the same birth month).

Anyway, that's about all I have time to post right now. I have a lot of studying to do for class- it seems that one of the only major symptoms of pregnancy I've been experiencing so far is that I'm absolutely exhausted, all the time. Taking multiple naps per day has proven to not be so conducive to me staying caught up in class. Oops. And, I have to go to the bathroom every 45 minutes. I think I was predisposed to that one- my mom has a bladder the size of a walnut. :)

More updates to come...
