Amazing Weekend

This weekend the weather was beautiful and we were busy! I'm on a lighter rotation this month (inpatient child psychiatry), and I'm so grateful I have the freedom to spend such quality time with my boys!

On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early and Jordan and I started the P90X workout series in an effort to hurry up and get in shape before residency starts. Then, we had a nice breakfast with Marshall and headed to the farmer's market in downtown Kansas City. It was awesome! We bought a ton of fresh produce (think huge bunch of asparagus for $1, three mangos for $1, grapes at <$1 per pound), bulk spices (thai, curry, mmmm), some fresh bread and buffalo meat! We had to leave before we spent way more money than we intended.

After that we went to the Deanna Rose Farmstead. It's basically like a farm-based zoo in Overland Park, KS. Marshall had a great time seeing all the baby goats and cows and ducks. There's a pen where you can feed the baby goats with a bottle, which Marshall loved. He kept trying to pick up the baby goats like they were kittens.

"Mommy! A goat!!!"

"Oh, I'm going to pet it!!"

"I wanna climb in!!"

After the farmstead we had a great lunch together and put Marshall down for a nap. During naptime Jordan and I spent three hours raking up these awfully annoying seeds that had fallen from the huge tree in our front yard. They're about the size of a golf ball and they're hard and spiky, so you can't mow over them because it'll dull the lawn mower blade. They work into the grass with their spikes, so it was a lot of hard work getting them all picked up. We were exhausted by the end of it, and Marshall had woken up, so we decided to wait to mow until the next day. Unfortunately, we had a wind storm that night and woke up on Sunday morning to find the yard completely covered again!

On Sunday we went to church and then during naptime we worked on the yard again. But, thankfully, it's all mowed... for now... after nap we ran some errands and then grilled some buffalo burgers while Marshall played in his sandbox. It was such a nice weekend!

Marshall's language has also blossomed over the past couple of days. Now he says "I do!" whenever you ask him to do something (that he wants to do, anyway). He also says "Go go!" when we're in the car. It's awesome. I know his language is just going to explode in the next month or two.
