Great news!

So I have been a little apprehensive about returning back to the wards in January... my first rotation back is OB/GYN. It's a 6 week rotation, with three weeks of OB and three weeks of GYN. Typically the OB shifts have involved longer hours, night shifts and weekend obligations, since babies tend to be born at all hours of the day. On the one hand, it's nice that I'll be around mothers and babies, since I'll be able to empathize with my patients, but on the other hand, being around pregnancy and birth might make me miss Marshall all the more. I'm definitely NOT looking forward to the long hours... however, I received some great news today, just in time for Christmas: I have been assigned to the GYN portion first, which means that until Marshall is 10 or 11 weeks old, I won't have to work any overnight shifts. Hallelujah!
