Well, our first long car trip with Marshall was not nearly as bad as I was imagining! The drive to Denver, which normally takes us about 8 hours from Lawrence, took 10 1/2 hours on the way out there and 10 hours on the way back. Marshall was wonderful- he woke up to eat and have his diaper changed at each of our stops to get gas and he was a quiet, happy baby the whole way... well, he did fuss for a couple of hours towards the end of each leg of the trip, but luckily on the way back we had my sister with us, sitting in the backseat, to console him.
I did learn that packing for a baby and traveling with a baby is a LOT harder than traveling alone as adults. He has so many accessories, and sometimes it truly DOES feel like the end of the world if you forget one of them. I barely remembered to pack myself enough changes of clothes after making sure we had everything of his packed away.
This trip showed us that our little boy is growing. He is eating more, less frequently, and he's sleeping on a schedule. At his weight check today, he was 9 lbs 12 oz, but he had his gDiaper on, which, when dry, weighs 2.5 ounces on its own... so, realistically he's probably around 9 lbs 9 or 10 ounces. Considering newborns are supposed to gain about 0.5-1 oz per day, he's right on track for growth.
Well, the little man is awake now, but I'll make sure to post pictures of our long weekend in Denver a little later!
