As you can see, there's really a baby in there! The black oval in the center of the image is the gestational sack, with a tiny little embryo (white blob) and a yolk sac (white ring) inside! We got to see and hear the heart beat (102 bpm) and the baby measured in at 6 weeks 0 days, so our due date is November 4, 2009! WHICH, is CRAZY, because that was the day our best friends' baby Chasen was born last year; this is just further evidence of the fact that Jordan and I are leading our lives in parallel to those of Ean and Abby, just one year behind. I knew right away, (i.e. as soon as the ultrasound technician put the probe on my tummy) that we were pregnant. Having performed hundreds of ultrasounds myself, I can defintely tell the difference between a pregnant and a non-pregnant uterus. I was so excited that I kept pointing things out to Jordan, like my bladder, the yolk sac, and even the heart beat. At one point I think the technician was wondering what she was doing there. :) I explained that I was a medical student and that I had some experience with ultrasounds.
We also met with the doctor today, and she is wonderful. Jordan and I both really like her. She is quite young and graduated from KUMC too, so we have some comradery already. She said everything is progressing along normally. Our next appointment is in 4 weeks!
I just read this entire site - I'm so, so very excited for you guys!! And your schedule!? Are you kidding!? It's all simply perfect!! Congratulations again, lady who will be the most adorable pregnant woman alive! (And Jordan too, I suppose)
