another milestone... and this one made us cry

Today, Jordan, Marshall and I were driving over to our friends' house for a graduation party, when Jordan and I overheard Marshall say, "ba.... bah.... ba ba ba ba ba." This was the first time he ever babbled, and needless to say, Jordan (who's studying child language development) was THRILLED. He was just beaming, so proud of his son. I was happy too, and proud, but I knew Marshall would babble at some point. But, then, when we were back in the car after the party and were headed to the grocery store, I heard clearly and distinctly, "ma... ma.... ma ma ma ma ma" from the backseat. My eyes immediately welled up with tears and my heart swelled. He said mama! "MAMA!!!!!" I've never felt so loved. I turned around and he was looking in his little mirror saying it over and over. Amazing.

Marshall reached another milestone this week. He figured out how to scoot backwards when he's on his tummy. It's really cute because you can tell he's getting frustrated when he somehow gets farther and farther away from the toy he's seeking. It's only a matter of time before he figures out how to go forwards. We're so excited to watch him grow.

Here's a picture of our adorable little man:

  1. You would both love the documentary "Babies" which is playing in theaters here right now. It follows four babies, born in different corners of the globe, for about 18 months. No commentary, just watching and listening. Marshall is such an adorable little boy.
